Catholics, what is a Catholic wedding like?

The wedding ceremony itself may not be very different from what you have in your church. However, it usually takes place within the context of a Mass. If you don't know what a Mass is like, you could attend one at any Catholic Church on any Sunday, to see for yourself. The principle requirements for a wedding of a Catholic to be considered valid (in addition to the basic things like being of legal age, being baptized, etc.) is that it take place in a Catholic Church (occasionally other appropriate places may be approved for a good reason), in the presence of a Catholic priest or deacon, who serves as the official representative of the Church.
